Fondazione Forma per la Fotografia leaves Milan physical venue

Fondazione Forma per la Fotografia, founded by Roberto Koch, is closing its physical space in via Meravigli, Milan, after ten years of activity. The foundation hosted 120 exhibitions, courses, hundreds of events, and attracted about 500,000 visitors. Its final show, "La prossima immagine," is currently closed due to COVID-19 restrictions. The foundation will shift to a more fluid model, focusing on online and in-person education, talks, and archival valorization. Planned activities include "Leggere la fotografia" talks (now a book published by Contrasto titled "Nuove visioni" with contributions by Giovanni Chiaramonte, Claudio Marra, Federica Muzzarelli, Daniela Persico, Ferdinando Scianna, and Michele Smargiassi), a new series on autobiographical photography led by Simona Ghizzoni, and continued support for exhibitions like "Prima, donna. Margaret Bourke-White fotografa" at Palazzo Reale in Milan, "Radici" by Josef Koudelka at Museo dell'Ara Pacis in Rome (from January 2021), and "Amazzonia" by Sebastião Salgado at Museo MAXXI in Rome (from June 2021). The foundation also plans to create a Biblioteca dell'immagine, a library dedicated to photography with a photographic mapping of Milan's heritage.
