Fondazione CR Firenze Reopens Collection After Two-Year Pandemic Closure

cultural-heritage · 2026-04-27

The Fondazione CR Firenze will unveil its art collection to the public on September 24-25, 2022, after a two-year hiatus caused by the pandemic, aligning with the European Heritage Days. This collection encompasses Italian art from the 13th to the 20th centuries, showcasing masterpieces by renowned artists such as Giotto, Mariotto di Nardo, Filippino Lippi, and others. Most of these works were acquired between 2000 and 2008 from the Cassa di Risparmio di Firenze to maintain their integrity. Curated by Carlo Sisi, the reopening features guided tours for children aged 5-11, who previously explored the collection online. A tour in Italian Sign Language is scheduled for September 25, World Deaf Day, with future Arabic tours planned through the AMIR Project. The 'In Collezione' program will provide free guided visits until February 26, 2023, on select weekends.
