Fondazione Carla Fendi Celebrates 15 Years as Main Partner of Festival dei Due Mondi

The Fondazione Carla Fendi, main partner of the Festival dei Due Mondi in Spoleto, marks 15 years of collaboration with the festival. Founded by Carla Fendi after her retirement from fashion, the foundation supports cultural events through patronage, including scholarships and donations. Its partnership with the festival began 15 years ago at the invitation of the Italian Ministry of Cultural Heritage, under the artistic direction of Giorgio Ferrara (now Monique Veaute). The foundation has commissioned works and performances, such as 'L'Apocalisse' by Peter Greenaway and Saskia Boddeke, and involved Oscar winners, artists, and cultural figures like Piero Tosi, Paolo Sorrentino, Liliana Cavani, Giovanni Sollima, and Julie Taymor. Under President Maria Teresa Venturini Fendi, the foundation has shifted focus toward science, collaborating with Nobel laureates Peter Higgs and François Englert, CERN director Fabiola Gianotti, Silicon Valley guru Jaron Lanier, and Italian scientists Marika Branchesi, Barbara Mazzolai, and Cecilia Laschi. The foundation also supports the LeWitt Mahler Studios, artist residencies curated by Guy Robertson and Eva Lewitt. Notable projects include the restoration of Teatro Caio Melisso (renamed Teatro Carla Fendi) from 2010 to 2015, and the restoration of historic curtains by local artisans CooBecC. The foundation operates solely through its own financial means.
