Fondazione Cariplo Opens Magnete Community Hub in Milan's Adriano District

institutional · 2026-04-27

Fondazione Cariplo, in collaboration with the Municipality of Milan, has inaugurated Magnete, a new community hub in the Adriano district as part of its Lacittàintorno urban regeneration program. Located within the Adriano Community Center on the site of the former Magneti Marelli factory, the hub is designed by Studio Gisto and managed by 28 local organizations, led by Proges. It offers robotics labs for youth, training centers, ethical and sustainable food services run by Fondazione Cova, theater, culture, and innovation spaces. The project is part of a €10 million investment by Fondazione Cariplo to improve quality of life in Milan's peripheral neighborhoods. The hub integrates a highly specialized elderly residence, including an Alzheimer's unit, clinics, social housing apartments, and a community gathering point. The redevelopment began in 2017 with an investment of over €17 million by Proges. A third PuntoCom is planned at the former Convitto Trotter in the NoLo district. Giovanni Fosti, President of Fondazione Cariplo, emphasized that these hubs strengthen communities and shorten distances between people. Michela Bolondi, President of Proges, highlighted the role of creativity, culture, and innovation in generating social impact.
