Fondazione Arte Sacra Contemporanea Launches in Florence

A new foundation dedicated to contemporary sacred art, Fondazione Arte Sacra Contemporanea, will be officially presented on November 26, 2022, in Florence at the Cenacolo di Santa Croce. Its headquarters are located at Parco delle Cascine. The foundation evolves from the Scuola di Arte Sacra, founded in Florence in 2012 to promote creativity in art and craftsmanship with a focus on the sacred. The foundation aims to serve as a hub for all professions related to sacred art, training a new generation of artists, artisans, tour guides, and museum operators, and fostering cultural discourse on contemporary sacred art. Its board of directors includes the Comune di Firenze, Arcidiocesi di Firenze, Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio di Firenze, Fabbricerie Fiorentine, Facoltà Teologica dell'Italia Centrale, IUL Università Telematica, and Artes LAB, presided over by Stefania Fuscagni. Lucia Tanti is the director. The foundation's mission emphasizes contemporaneity, using today's languages, materials, and suggestions to speak to contemporary audiences, and adopts principles of generative and renewable economy. At the presentation, Micol Forti, curator of the Modern and Contemporary Art Collection of the Vatican Museums, will give a lecture. The foundation also references the BIAS – Biennale Internazionale di Arte Sacra, held in Italy since 2016.
