Fondazione Adolfo Pini reopens in Milan after restoration

institutional · 2026-04-26

The Fondazione Adolfo Pini will unveil its restored 19th-century building at Corso Garibaldi 2 in Milan on January 30, 2025, following a two-year renovation. Founded by Adolfo Pini to honor his uncle, painter Renzo Bongiovanni Radice, and to foster contemporary art, the foundation entered extraordinary administration in early 2022. On February 1, 2024, a new board led by Marina Messina, former director of Milan's Civic Museums, was appointed. The restoration features the Sala grande's polychrome wooden ceiling, frescoes on the staircase, and upgraded lighting and accessibility. Curated by Silvia Bolamperti, the permanent exhibition showcases forty paintings by Bongiovanni Radice, along with various artifacts reflecting early 20th-century bourgeois life. By the end of February 2025, the foundation will announce a two-year program, including contemporary exhibitions and the revival of the Pini Art Prize for artists under 35. A new executive director position will close applications on February 1, 2025, as the foundation seeks to enhance connections with Milan's cultural scene and the Brera district.
