Fondation Francès launches new exhibition cycle with Isabelle Cavalleri and Jörg Langhans
Fondation Francès in Senlis, Oise, France, has inaugurated a new exhibition cycle titled "La Vie est un entre-deux" featuring artists Isabelle Cavalleri and Jörg Langhans. The exhibition runs until November 27, 2021, and marks the beginning of a program that will continue through summer 2022. The cycle focuses on three principles: inviting artists who live and work in the Hauts-de-France region, featuring artist couples, and offering works for sale. Cavalleri, born in May 1968 and based in Angy, presents drawings in black and white using charcoal, pencil, or ink, including series like "Une menace" (2018) and "Je suis un oiseau qui marche" (2019). Langhans, born in Germany in 1966, works with color in paintings and portraits, exploring themes like vegetation and faces, including self-portraits and portraits of figures such as Antonin Artaud and Hannah Arendt. The foundation, established by Estelle and Hervé Francès in 2006, previously showcased exhibitions from their collection centered on humanity and its excesses. Future exhibitions in the cycle will feature Clément Borderie and Cat Loray (February 10-April 30, 2022) and Raul Illarramendi and Georgia Russell (May 12-July 22, 2022). Some artists in the cycle, including Cavalleri, are not represented by galleries, making the sales aspect significant. The initiative reflects a post-Covid-19 shift toward engaging with local artistic communities.
