Follonica's industrial railway becomes art path in 'Tra Terra e Mare'

The Tuscan town of Follonica presents 'Tra Terra e Mare', a project that transforms the former ILVA industrial park into an art space, running until October 31, 2017. Curated by Davide Sarchioni, the initiative features site-specific works by Aidilab, Cristiano Bocci, Antonio Barbieri, BOCA, and Valentina Palazzari across multiple venues: the Parco dell'Ex ILVA, the Pinacoteca Civica, the MAGMA (Museo delle Arti in Ghisa nella Maremma), and the Senzuno district. The project follows the old foundry railway tracks, creating a path linking the cultural hub of the industrial area to the seafront where the Pinacoteca Civica is located. Barbieri (born 1985 in Milan) and Palazzari (born 1975 in Terni) occupy the former ILVA space. Aidilab and Cristiano Bocci (born 1975 in Castel del Piano, Grosseto) inhabit MAGMA. Lighting designers BOCA, an eco-design artisan atelier by Roberta Boggi and Chiara Carrarini (born 1982 in Acquapendente, Viterbo), have constructed 300 meters of wooden ribbons in the Pinacoteca Civica, accompanied by videomapping and surface treatment for the environmental installation. The project underscores Follonica's virtuous redevelopment from an industrial area into a place for the arts.
