FLUB Web Series Satirizes Struggles of Emerging Artists
FLUB, an independent web series created by actors Silvia Saponaro and Marco De Martin, launched its first episode on May 6, 2021, on YouTube. The comedy series aims to expose the real-life challenges faced by emerging artists, including exploitative contracts, lack of investment in new talent, and the misconception that artists do nothing all day. Produced in collaboration with Angelo D’Agostino – Produzione Video, Lacumbia Film, Isophonic Studio, and Teatro Salotto Magico, the project involves over forty members from the Turin area. Saponaro and De Martin emphasize that being an artist requires 24/7 dedication to study, apprenticeship, and professional growth, often forcing artists to handle non-artistic tasks like booking, marketing, and taxes. The series releases new episodes every Thursday at 9 PM on the FLUB-Web series YouTube channel. The creators plan to continue beyond this first season to reach a wider audience.
