Florence Peake's Ritual Dance Animates Jonathan Baldock's Sculptures at Fondazione Memmo

exhibition · 2026-05-05

On March 8, 2017, a performance titled Inhale / Inhabit took place at Fondazione Memmo in Rome, featuring dancer Florence Peake moving among the works of British artist Jonathan Baldock. The collaboration merged Baldock's sculptural and painterly practice with Peake's performative approach, creating a disorienting ritual that explored the relationship between body and objects. The event was part of the group exhibition Conversation Piece | Part III, curated by Marcello Smarrelli, which also included artists Piero Golia, Magali Reus, and Claudia Wieser. The exhibition ran until April 2, 2017. A video of the performance was shot by Anton Giulio Onofri.
