Florence Korea Film Fest 2017 Opens with Park Chan-wook Retrospective
The Florence Korea Film Fest is taking place at Cinema La Compagnia in Florence and will continue until March 31, 2017. Showcasing 43 films that highlight South Korean cinema, the festival includes the Italian debut of Park Chan-wook's The Handmaiden. Renowned for his "vengeance trilogy," Park is celebrated with a retrospective of 13 films and the "Keys to the City" award. The event also presents the Asiana Airlines Audience Award and the Festival Critics Award. This year's theme, K Woman, features five films that examine women's roles. Kim Ki-duk's The Net addresses inter-Korean tensions. Additionally, the Korea Week program encompasses art, sports, dance, and music, featuring a Taekwondo demonstration and a group exhibition at Murate – Progetti Arte Contemporanea.
