Florence celebrates 600 years of Ghiberti's Gates of Paradise with contemporary art exhibition
Florence is set to commemorate the 600th anniversary of Lorenzo Ghiberti's contract for the Gates of Paradise with an exhibition titled "The Path to Paradise – Verso il Paradiso." This event will take place at Palazzo Vecchio's Sala d'Arme from November 3 to 11, 2025. Curated by Luna Jasmine Gordon, the exhibition showcases ten reproductions of the Gates' panels created by Galleria Frilli, alongside 37 contemporary pieces inspired by Old Testament narratives. A notable feature is a bronze frame draped in ermisino silk, representing a link to the Arte di Calimala. Galleria Frilli, founded in 1860, focuses on monumental sculpture and restoration. The Pneuma Art Foundation, established by Brett and Olivia Colbert, seeks to encourage dialogue between classical and contemporary art in Florence.
