Florence Biennale 2021: Eternal Feminine and Gender Equality
The 13th Florence Biennale, named Eternal Feminine – Eternal Change, is set to take place from October 23 to 31, 2021, at Fortezza da Basso in Florence, with the support of the Italian Ministry of Culture and various other organizations. This event showcases 465 participants from across five continents, all vying for the Lorenzo il Magnifico Prize in art and the Leonardo da Vinci Prize in design. The theme explores femininity through both historical and modern lenses, addressing feminist movements and climate change. Curated by Fortunato D'Amico, a non-competitive exhibition will feature over 60 artists. Awards will be presented to Vivienne Westwood, Michelangelo Pistoletto, and Oliviero Toscani, alongside emerging artists Flora Borsi and Jim Tsinganos. A new Audience Prize will be awarded to the artwork with the most scans, and the winning pieces will be displayed from November 12 to December 4, 2021.
