FLORE's Ghostly Photographs Haunt George Sand's Nohant Home

At the Maison de George Sand in Nohant, France, an intimate exhibition titled 'Je suis dans des mondes étranges' by Franco-Spanish photographer FLORE conjures the spirits of the writer and her lover Frédéric Chopin. The 18th-century manor, acquired in 1793 by Sand's grandmother, hosted luminaries like Franz Liszt, Honoré de Balzac, and Eugène Delacroix. Now managed by the Centre des monuments nationaux, the house and its vast park remain preserved. FLORE, who won the Prix Nadar Gens d'images in 2020 for a photographic narrative on Marguerite Duras in Vietnam, was invited for a residency by the CMN. She spent multiple seasons absorbing the atmosphere. The exhibition features 25 prints on gold leaf, porcelain, silk, and lithographic stone, displayed among the original furniture and objects, plus large-format works in the gardens.
