Flora Yukhnovich to Show New Works at London's Wallace Collection
The Wallace Collection in London has commissioned British artist Flora Yukhnovich (b. 1990, Norwich) to create two new canvases, on view from June 5 to November 3, 2024. The works are inspired by François Boucher's 1749 pastoral scenes, which will be temporarily relocated to a white-walled ground-floor space. Yukhnovich's paintings will replace Boucher's at the top of the grand staircase, engaging in dialogue with 18th-century works. The artist, represented by Hauser & Wirth and Victoria Miro, is known for her contemporary Rococo interpretations. Wallace Collection director Xavier Bray stated the collaboration aims to attract new audiences and offer fresh perspectives on Boucher. Yukhnovich expressed enthusiasm, noting Boucher's influence on her practice since her student days.
