Floor Plan Croissant: Bulgarian architect paints artistic floor plans of iconic film houses
Boryana Ilieva, a Bulgarian architect and interior designer known online as Floor Plan Croissant, creates watercolor floor plans of iconic film houses. Her works include Bella Baxter's home from 'Poor Things,' the chalet from 'Anatomy of a Fall,' Lydia Tár's apartment, Neo's lair from 'The Matrix,' the 'Squid Game' maze, and Bob Fosse's apartment from 'All That Jazz.' Ilieva extracts floor plans from films by counting tiles and using actor proportions. She chooses films with strong 'house characters' or receives commissions, like 'Anatomy of a Fall' from Neon after Cannes. Her process combines reality and interpretation; for 'All That Jazz,' she added a blue carpet. Each painting takes two to four months. She started with a pencil sketch of 'Amour' by Michael Haneke, then moved to watercolors. She shares work on Instagram and Patreon, where she has a following in Italy. Ilieva is now a full-time artist based in Sofia, also giving lectures and presentations. She will exhibit at a film festival in Romania in July.
