Floating Forest: A Green Oasis on Milan's Darsena for Fuorisalone 2022

A floating forest with 610 trees and over 30 species will be installed on Milan's Darsena during Fuorisalone, from June 7 to 12, 2022. Created by Stefano Boeri Interiors, the multidisciplinary studio founded by Giorgio Donà and Stefano Boeri, the installation is presented by Timberland, reinforcing its commitment to environmental sustainability through circularity, urban greening, and eco-innovative products. The Floating Forest offers a sensory experience with a four-stage path through trees like Acer, Betulla, and Malus, shrubs such as Aronia Nera, Ortensia, and Mahonia, and perennial grasses like Stipa, Eulalia, and Anemone. A digital experience will allow remote access. After the event, all trees will be donated to Soulfood Forestfarms Hub Italia, which, together with CasciNet Agrohub and the University of Milan, is regenerating Parco della Vettabbia into a productive agroforestry system. The project aligns with the main theme of the 60th Salone del Mobile, 'Design for our future selves and sustainability,' which will feature a large installation by Mario Cucinella on the relationship between humans and nature.
