FliportoArte 2026: Art, Literature and Technology Converge in Recife

festival-fair · 2026-07-30

The second edition of FliportoArte, taking place November 12–15, 2026, in Recife, Brazil, presents a hybrid model combining an art fair, festival, and literary event. Curated by Mariana Leme, the program draws its concept from Mozambican writer Paulina Chiziane's novel "Balada de Amor ao Vento" (1990), using "wind" as a metaphor for the invisible relationships underpinning artistic work. The event features 16 independent spaces, six commercial galleries (from Recife, João Pessoa, and São Paulo), and six institutions, inverting the typical art fair ratio. Two transversal axes—art and literature, and art and technology (curated by Fábio Tremonte)—run through the program. Honorees include artist Ana Lira and writer Paulina Chiziane. Ana Lira presents two new works, one created in collaboration with women farmers from the Espaço Agroecológico de Setúbal. The fair takes place at the modernist Galeria Janete Costa in Parque Dona Lindú. FliportoArte is part of a larger ecosystem including the Fliporto literary festival (21 years in 2026) and the new Fliporto Conecta technology platform, all occurring simultaneously across Recife. The Prêmio Farol supports three exhibitors with cash prizes and residencies. Organizers emphasize strengthening artistic research over commercial sales.
