Flearchitecture: b720 Arquitectos Explores Second-Hand Architecture at Barcelona's Encants Market

The exhibition 'Flearchitecture. Repurposing the given,' organized by b720 Fermín Vázquez Arquitectos, runs from April 17 to July 11 at the Mercat dels Encants in Barcelona. Part of the Barcelona World Capital of Architecture 2026 program, it features over 50 contributors and more than 70 projects from Barcelona and its metropolitan area. The show reimagines flea market logic for architecture: recovering, recombining, and assigning new meanings to existing structures. Displays include objects, models, and images integrated into the market's daily life, avoiding conventional museography. Gold surfaces, made from the same material as the market's roof, create reflections that multiply the exhibited pieces. Participants include BAAS Arquitectura, EMBT Architects, Anna & Eugeni Bach, Mesura, Batlleiroig, and companies Simon, Finsa, and Matter.
