Flavio Favelli's 'Serie Imperiale' Unfolds Across Time, Space, and VR

Flavio Favelli's initiative, 'Serie Imperiale,' encompasses wall paintings, their subsequent removal, 'otturazioni' (fillings), virtual reality elements, and an exhibition at Rocca dei Bentivoglio located in Bazzano, close to Bologna. The project originated with two wall murals in Bazzano: one at the Casa del Popolo and another in a deserted former Coop supermarket, selected for their political significance. These artworks displayed enlarged stamps of King Vittorio Emanuele III, overprinted with symbols from the Repubblica Sociale Italiana (RSI). Restorer Camillo Tarozzi facilitated the removal of the murals while maintaining the integrity of the original walls. A VR segment by Elisa Del Prete captures this process. The exhibition features the two 'pitture strappate' on canvas alongside wall otturazioni. Favelli's project was conceived for the Italian Council and is inspired by his family's philatelic collection.
