Flavio Favelli's 'Senso 80' at Milan's Albergo Diurno Venezia

exhibition · 2026-05-05

For the second time, thanks to FAI, the magnificent space of Albergo Diurno 'Venezia' in Piazza Oberdan, Milan, becomes the venue and muse for a contemporary art exhibition. Last year featured Sarah Lucas; this year, Flavio Favelli (Florence, 1967) will inhabit its rooms and common areas. The project, titled 'Senso 80', will take place during miart from March 29 to May 14, 2017. Favelli has created a series of site-specific installations and sculptures that reinterpret and reassemble the hotel's original early 20th-century furniture in his signature style. These furnishings are reassembled and recomposed into installations that dialogue with the fascinating structure designed by Piero Portaluppi. Light elements also contribute to the reference, as the title suggests, to the 1980s—ambiguous and diabolical years, both dawn and dusk, according to Favelli.
