Flavio Favelli Paints Vintage Cars for Milan Art Week

exhibition · 2026-04-27

For Art Week 2023, LoroMilano, a 1,000 sqm space in Milan's Isola district, hosts from April 12 to 16 a project by Flavio Favelli (born 1967 in Florence), realized in collaboration with Francesca Minini. The artist recovers three vintage cars: a BMW, a Jaguar, and a Fiat 500. He strips and transforms them, giving them a symbolic, poetic meaning that recalls history while looking beyond. The process of denaturing the cars into pure silhouettes and objects is slow, as in the case of Serravalle, a 1983 BMW 316 covered with original stickers from the 1970s, 1980s, and 1990s, which are then removed and the traces painted over. Masking and unmasking merge under a contemporary vision of art and the role of the automobile in the last century.
