Flavio Favelli Opens Temporary Store 'UNIVERS' at Venice Biennale

Artist Flavio Favelli (Florence, 1967) will open a temporary store titled 'UNIVERS' in Venice during the 57th Venice Biennale, from May 8 to 14, 2017. Located at Fondamenta S. Anna (Castello 944, near the Arsenale), the store is conceived as an artwork—a metaphysical shop selling unique, signed objects by Favelli for €20 each. The project follows Favelli's site-specific intervention at Albergo Diurno 'Venezia' in Milan and his previous Biennale participations in 2003 and 2013. Favelli describes the store as a non-conformist space where quality is not tied to high cost, evoking the atmosphere of old Southern Italian botteghe where human interaction matters more than sales. The work is an environment meant to transcend commercial logic.
