Flavio Favelli Opens New Space in Bologna with Amaro Montenegro Installation
Flavio Favelli (born Florence, 1967) has opened a new 250-square-meter space in an ex-warehouse at Viale Antonio Silvani 5, Bologna, inaugurated during Art City 2022. The space, staffed by students and alumni of the Accademia di Belle Arti di Bologna, features a retrospective of his work from 2003 to 2022, described as a personal gallery for self-reflection and non-commercial. Concurrently, Favelli created "Nuova Mixage," an installation at Bar Vittorio Emanuele on Piazza Maggiore, using 45 label-less bottles of Amaro Montenegro, a brand invented in 1885 by Stanislao Cobianchi, in collaboration with GruppoMontenegro. The project also includes a dialogue with writer Emanuele Trevi. Favelli is also present at Arte Fiera with the iconic sign "Bolognese" on the facade of Francesca Minini's booth. His studio remains in Savigno, where he is building a new house as an art project. The new space is not temporary and is open beyond the fair days.
