Flavia Tritto on Quarantine, Art, and Social Change
Flavia Tritto (b. 1994, Bari) discusses how the COVID-19 pandemic disrupted her projects, including a solo exhibition at Galleria Museo Nuova Era scheduled for mid-April, and residencies and summer events. She used quarantine to explore isolation dynamics through her research on intersubjectivity and self-perception. Her practice became more rhizomatic and voracious, leading to a photographic project projecting family archive slides into domestic spaces, seeking forms of relation. In the second week of lockdown, she launched the online platform Per Un Nuovo Agire Sociale (PUNAS) to share reflections and redefine social action, aiming to prevent a return to an undesirable normalcy. After 45 days, leaving home felt like landing on an alien planet, with radically changed public behavior. She hopes for conscious, united, and constructive collective action.
