FLAT Art Book Fair Returns to Palazzo Cisterna for 2017 Edition

FLAT – Fiera Libro Arte Torino will take place at Palazzo Cisterna from November 3 to 5, 2017, instead of the new Lavazza headquarters designed by Cino Zucchi as previously announced. The fair, conceived by Chiara Caroppo, Beatrice Merz, and Mario Petriccione, aims to promote international exhibition catalogs, monographs, essays, artist books, rare editions, out-of-print items, and magazines, connecting major publishers with independent presses, bookmakers, artists, collectors, and bibliophiles. A rich cultural program, curated by Francesca Valentini, focuses on the state of international art publishing and artist book culture, featuring conversations and book launches. Elena Volpato, curator at GAM – Galleria Civica d'Arte Moderna e Contemporanea di Torino, organizes two exhibitions: a monographic show on Ettore Sottsass at Palazzo Birago (November 3–12) titled "Ettore Sottsass. Le pagine," displaying his entire output of books, magazines, and pamphlets from 1962 to Memphis catalogs, including works like "Room East 128. Chronicle" and "Pianeta Fresco"; and a group show at Palazzo Cisterna called "Lettura per voci e silenzio," featuring video works by John Baldessari, Martha Rosler, Karl Holmqvist, and Concetta Modica, along with about thirty works exploring the book form by artists such as Irma Blank and Maurizio Nannucci.
