FLAT, a new art book fair for Turin, launches in November 2017

FLAT (Fiera Libro Arte Torino), a new art book fair, will debut in November 2017 at the Lavazza headquarters in Turin, designed by architect Cino Zucchi. The fair was officially presented at Artissima after a preview at the Center for Italian Modern Art (CIMA) in New York during NY Art Book Fair. Promoters Beatrice Merz (president of the Fondazione Merz), Chiara Caroppo, and Mario Petriccione aim to create a space promoting international exhibition catalogs, monographs, artist books, rare editions, and magazines. The fair will host about fifty participants selected by a scientific committee including Liliana Dematteis, Richard Flood (New Museum New York), David Senior (MoMA New York), Ken Soehner (Watson Library, Met New York), and artist Lawrence Weiner, who also designed the logo. Two initiatives supported by the Fondazione per l'Arte Moderna e Contemporanea CRT include the FLAT Prize for an editorial project and the Giorgio Maffei Fund for acquisitions. The fair seeks to integrate into an international system of art book events, studying models like NY Art Book Fair, Offprint Paris, and Miss Read Berlin.
