Flashback's Opera Viva Barriera di Milano Project Unveils Emanuela Barilozzi Caruso's Unknown

On July 25, 2019, the Flashback art fair in Turin will install Emanuela Barilozzi Caruso's photographic work 'Unknown' (2019) on a billboard in the Barriera di Milano district as part of its year-long Opera Viva Barriera di Milano, il Manifesto project. Curated by Christian Caliandro and conceived by Alessandro Bulgini, the initiative extends the fair's presence into the urban fabric. Caruso's image, selected via an open call, depicts public transport passengers from her six-year Instagram series #comefareisenzamezzipubblici. The work aligns with Flashback's 2019 theme 'Gli Erranti,' inspired by the Strugatsky brothers' sci-fi novel 'The Time Wanderers.' Flashback, founded in 2013 by Ginevra Pucci and Stefania Poddighe, operates under the motto 'art is all contemporary,' rejecting temporal and spatial boundaries. The fair runs from October 31 to November 3 at Pala Alpitour, alongside other Turin art week events like Artissima. The jury for the open call included Pucci, Poddighe, Bulgini, Caliandro, Francesco Nucci, Giangavino Pazzola, Marco Rubiola, and Fabrizio Bellomo.
