Flashback Fair Returns to Turin with Diversity Theme

The sixth edition of Flashback, a fair specializing in ancient and modern art, will take place from November 1 to 4, 2018, at the Pala Alpitour in Turin, with a preview on October 31. The theme is diversity, inspired by Chad Oliver's science fiction novel "Le rive di un altro mare." For the first time, the fair's key visual was created by an artist: street artist Francesco Valeri, known as Lu FRA, born in 1979 in Porto San Giorgio. He will also create a live wall painting on a 12-meter wall and conduct educational workshops curated by Mariachiara Guerra. A highlight is a solo show by American artist Tony Matelli, curated by Gian Enzo Sperone, featuring three hyperrealistic sculptures in an immersive seascape setting. The fair hosts 43 exhibitors, including returning gallery Benappi Arte Antica e Moderna, which presents a double-sided painting by Eleazaro Oldoni, and newcomer Maison d'Art of Monte Carlo, showing Orazio Gentileschi's 17th-century "Maria Maddalena," with Artemisia Gentileschi as the presumed model. The special project Opera Viva Barriera di Milano, conceived by Alessandro Bulgini in 2013 and curated by Christian Caliandro, returns: six artists create monthly billboards in Piazza Bottesini, culminating in a collective exhibition at the fair. Flashback directors Ginevra Pucci and Stefania Poddighe announced the program at a press conference at Bagni Pubblici di via Agliè.
