Flashback Fair Moves to Former Military Barracks in Turin, Doubles Space

festival-fair · 2026-04-27

Flashback, the Turin-based art fair specializing in ancient and modern art, is relocating from its historic venue at Pala Alpitour Isozaki to the former Caserma Dogali (also known as Caserma La Marmora) on Via Asti, provided by CDP Immobiliare SGR (Cassa Depositi e Prestiti). The move aligns with a trend among Turin's collateral fairs to repurpose former military sites, as seen with The Others at the former Ospedale Militare Alessandro Riberi and Paratissima at the former Accademia Artiglieria. The new venue spans over 20,000 square meters across eight buildings around a central courtyard, doubling the fair's exhibition space. The building, historically used as the political investigative office of the Republican National Guard from 1943 to 1945, has also housed refugees from the Horn of Africa. Its future redevelopment is planned by Carlo Ratti Associati. The fair will take place in person from November 4 to 7, 2021, with setup by architect Carlo Alberto de Laugier. Directors Ginevra Pucci and Stefania Poddighe emphasized the theme "BE BACK" and the importance of the new location for safety and narrative. Gallery applications are open until September 15, 2021.
