Flashback Fair Launches Opera Viva in Turin's Barriera di Milano
The Flashback fair, directed by Ginevra Pucci and Stefania Poddighe and dedicated to modern and ancient art, is expanding into the city with the Opera Viva Barriera di Milano project, opening May 31 in the Barriera di Milano neighborhood of Turin. Curated by Christian Caliandro, the project invites six international artists—Zanbagh Lotfi, Andrea Mastrovito, Saul Melman, Aryan Ozmaei, Gian Maria Tosatti, and Alessandro Bulgini—to intervene in a 3x6 meter advertising space in one of the city's most densely immigrant-populated and peripheral districts. Each month until November 13, a different artist will activate the space, starting with Iranian artist Zanbagh Lotfi's "Memory Vague 1361, 3: F16 (2015-16)", which blends childhood memories with the shadow of war in 1980s Iran. The project continues Alessandro Bulgini's earlier works "Decoro urbano in Barriera di Milano" (2014) and "Taranto Opera Viva" (2015), which engaged with urban and social contexts. The fair itself will take place November 3-6, 2016, under the claim "l'arte è tutta contemporanea".
