FiVeD: Fine-Grained Verification for Aspect Sentiment Triplet Extraction

The newly introduced FiVeD framework (Fine-grained Verification with Diagnostic reasoning supervision) tackles the often overlooked challenge of confirming extracted aspect sentiment triplets within ASTE (Aspect Sentiment Triplet Extraction). ASTE’s role is to pinpoint aspect terms, opinion terms, and sentiment polarities, forming structured triplets useful for opinion mining and explainable recommendations. While previous research has concentrated on end-to-end extraction, there has been a deficiency in post hoc verification, resulting in triplets that may seem plausible locally but are invalid on a global scale. FiVeD offers a detailed verification approach that refines or re-orders outputs from various extractors, utilizing multiple complementary training objectives.
