Five Summer Shows at Florence's Museo Novecento

exhibition · 2026-05-04

Florence's Museo Novecento presents five summer exhibitions. Sandra Vásquez de la Horra's first Italian museum solo show features drawings and sculptures immersed in wax, including works made after encountering Mario Sironi. 'Nel Novecento. Da Modigliani a Schiele, da De Chirico a Licini' displays around forty drawings from Rome's Galleria Nazionale d'Arte Moderna e Contemporanea, including expressionist works seized by Nazis and shown at the 1937 Degenerate Art exhibition in Munich; some were bought by painter Emanuel Fohn and later donated by his wife to the gallery after meeting director Palma Bucarelli in Florence in 1965. 'Solo. Gino Severini' focuses on his Commedia dell'arte-inspired phase from the 1920s-30s, featuring Pulcinella and Arlecchino motifs. 'Paradigma. Il tavolo dell'architetto. Adolfo Natalini' highlights the drawing practice of the Superstudio co-founder, with sketches, notebooks, and watercolors. 'The Wall. SOS ‒ Sustainable Thinking Evolution' is a 12-meter infographic timeline by Mario Cucinella Architects and SOS School of Sustainability on human-nature relations, with director Massimo Imparato stating sustainability requires redesigning participation rules.
