Five New Murals Transform Milan's Gallaratese Suburb

Five large-scale murals have been unveiled in Milan's Gallaratese district, created by street artists Leticia Mandragora, BTOY, JDL, Medianeras, and the duo Nabla & Zibe, curated by the Milanese collective Orticanoodle. The works were produced as part of the urban art project MANIFESTIVAL, conceived and promoted by the Fondazione Arrigo e Pia Pini, following a participatory process involving residents, associations, and local organizations. The murals are located around the Via Appennini and Via Consolini complex. The themes range from sports values to the memory of public housing, music as youth culture, the agricultural vocation of the neighborhood, and the celebration of women as modern Atlases supporting humanity. Specific works include: 'Frequency & rhythm' by Medianeras at Via Consolini 68; 'Il viaggio' by BTOY at Via Consolini 2, featuring a group of youths on motorcycles; 'A Silvia' by Leticia Mandragora at Via Appennini 66, depicting footballer Silvia De Natale; 'Equilibrio dinamico' by Nabla & Zibe at Via Appennini 64, celebrating agricultural memory; and 'Atlas' by JDL at Via Consolini 26, honoring women. BTOY's mural references the iconic Monte Amiata building by Carlo Aymonino and Aldo Rossi. The project aims to engage multiple generations and revitalize the neighborhood.
