Five New Comics to Read This Summer: From AkaB's Posthumous Work to Chris Ware's Latest

Artribune presents five new comic book releases for summer 2020. Jean-Marc Rochette's 'Il lupo' (L'Ippocampo, Milan) tells the story of a white wolf and shepherd Gaspard in the Écrins Massif, France, exploring the opposition between man and nature. AkaB's posthumous 'Le Mani di Z' (Progetto Stigma-Eris Edizioni, Turin) follows Z, a mentally disabled man obsessed with Zorro, living with his mother. Sergio Toppi's 'Tanka' (NPE Editore, Battipaglia) collects five stories set in ancient Japan, featuring samurai, princesses, and geishas. Aleš Kot and Tradd Moore's 'Il nuovo mondo' (SaldaPress, Reggio Emilia) is a dystopian love story between Stella Maris and Kirby Shakaku Miyazaki, blending Mad Max, Matrix, and Romeo and Juliet. Chris Ware's 'Rusty Brown' (Coconino Press, Rome), written and drawn over eighteen years, follows six characters in a Midwestern town in the 1970s, including shy Rusty, bully Jordan Lint, and teacher Joanna Cole.
