exhibition · 2026-05-04

In 2019, the Museo d'arte della Svizzera italiana (MASI) Lugano dominates the exhibition scene in Canton Ticino, highlighting two centuries of Swiss art. The museum presents three major shows: 'Hodler – Segantini – Giacometti. Capolavori della Fondazione Gottfried Keller' (March 24–July 28), reuniting masterpieces from the Gottfried Keller Foundation after 60 years, including Ferdinand Hodler's 'Abend am Genfersee' and Giovanni Segantini's 'Trittico delle Alpi'; a dedicated Segantini exhibition 'Sublime. Luce e paesaggio intorno a Giovanni Segantini' (August 25–November 10); and a surrealism survey organized with Aargauer Kunsthaus featuring Hans Arp, Alberto Giacometti, Paul Klee, and Meret Oppenheim. The Fondazione Gabriele e Anna Braglia in Lugano presents 'Da Kandinsky a Nolde – le Collezioni Braglia & Johenning' (March 28–June 29), showcasing 70 German Expressionist works from the Braglia and Johenning collections, the latter shown publicly for the first time. At m.a.x. museo in Chiasso, 'Franco Grignani (1908-1999). Polisensorialità fra arte, grafica e fotografia' (February 17–September 15) explores the artist's cross-disciplinary work between art, design, and photography with archival materials.
