Five Must-See Exhibitions in Madrid for Christmas 2019

Madrid's art scene offers five standout exhibitions this holiday season. At the Museo del Prado, 'Sofonisba Anguissola – Lavinia Fontana: Two Italian Painters' showcases pioneering female Renaissance artists, running until February 2, 2020. The Thyssen Museum presents 'The Impressionists and Photography' (until January 26, 2020), featuring 66 paintings and over 100 photographs exploring their mutual influence. The Reina Sofía hosts the first major retrospective of German painter Jörg Immendorff (1945–2007), with about 100 works including paintings, sculptures, and drawings, organized with Haus der Kunst in Munich, until April 13, 2020.
