Five Must-See Exhibitions at MAAT in Lisbon During ARCOlisboa

During ARCOlisboa week, the EDP Foundation and MAAT in Lisbon launched five exhibitions. Among them are solo showcases by Jesper Just, Carla Filipe, Xavier Veilhan, and Pedro Tudela, plus the EDP Foundation's New Artists Award. Just’s piece, ‘Servitudes – Circuits (Interpassivities),’ in the Oval Gallery, features video projections and a piano score, exploring the lives of young women with Charcot-Marie-Tooth syndrome. Filipe’s ‘Tomorrow there won't be any Art’ transforms protest banners into fabric panels without words, inviting interaction on cushions with political phrases. Veilhan’s rooftop display, ‘Romy and the Dogs,’ includes aluminum sculptures inspired by digital elements. Tudela’s ‘awdiˈtɔrju’ combines sound with installations featuring seven bells over dark liquids. The New Artists Award highlights finalists addressing labor, landscape, and decolonization until September and October 2019.
