Five Global Exhibitions Opening in Fall 2025 Explore Sound, Embroidery, and Colonial Histories

At MUNCH in Oslo, Lawrence Abu Hamdan's installation 'Zifzafa' transports attendees to the occupied Golan Heights through an auditory experience featuring wind turbines and local sounds, available from 19 September 2025 to 4 January 2026. Bady Dalloul debuts his first solo exhibition in the UAE at Jameel Arts Centre, titled 'Self-portrait with a cat I don't have', showcasing personal stories and a recreated studio in Dubai, from 20 September to 22 February 2026. 'SILA . All That is Left to You', a joint effort by Maraya Art Centre and 1971 – Design Space, emphasizes Palestinian tatreez embroidery as a form of cultural resistance, curated by Cima Azzam and Noor Suhail with Rula Alami, featuring artists such as Hazem Harb and Samia Halaby, from 21 September to 5 January 2026. Michael Rakowitz's exhibition 'Proxies for Poets and Palaces' at Stavanger Art Museum includes the series 'The invisible enemy should not exist', addressing the Iraq Museum's looting, along with references to Afghanistan's Hessian State Library and Leonard Cohen, from 27 September to 15 March 2026. Hoda Afshar's first solo show in France, 'Performing the Invisible', at musée du quai Branly – Jacques Chirac, features 'The Fold', which revisits colonial-era photographs by Gaëtan de Clérambault from Morocco, and the series 'Speak the Wind', from 30 September to 25 January 2026.
