Five finalists compete for Italy's best cultural journalist award at Ischia Prize 2018
The 2018 Ischia International Journalism Prize, held June 8-9 in Lacco Ameno, awards for the second consecutive year the "Premio Cultura Italiae – Databenc" for best cultural journalist. Five finalists are competing: Armando Massarenti (La Domenica de Il Sole 24 Ore), Marco Bracconi (Robinson de La Repubblica), Cesare Martinetti (Origami de La Stampa), Stefano Bucci (La Lettura del Corriere della Sera), and Massimiliano Tonelli (Artribune and Gambero Rosso). The prize, established in 1980 under the high patronage of the President of the Republic, honors journalists for professionalism and ethics. Past recipients include Indro Montanelli (1980), Giorgio Bocca, Enzo Biagi, Giovanni Spadolini, Eugenio Scalfari, Lilli Gruber, Paolo Mieli, David Grossman, Walter Cronkite, and Ferruccio de Bortoli. The jury, chaired by Clemente J. Mimun and composed of editors and journalists, will meet on April 17 to select winners in categories including International, print journalist of the year, television, and sports. Online voting for the cultural journalist category runs until April 30, 2018, narrowing the field to three finalists who will be judged by the jury by May 15. The winner will be announced on June 8 or 9 in Ischia.
