Five Designers Shaping the Future of Collectible Design

other · 2026-05-14

Collectible design, which bridges sculpture and function, is gaining international momentum. Diariodesign highlights five professionals redefining the boundaries between art, design, and collection. Polish artist Szymon Keller, based in Barcelona, creates resin works like the Sunburst collection and the Lung series, inspired by the Baltic and Mediterranean seas. Mayice, founded in 2013 by Marta Alonso Yebra and Imanol Calderón, presented the Rfc+ collection of 13 blown-glass lamps at the Real Fábrica de Cristales during Madrid Design Festival 2026. Valencian designer Jordi Iranzo, co-founder of Clap Studio, debuted Permanent Souls, using reused nets impregnated with epoxy resin to explore memory and void. Alberto Sánchez, co-founder of Mut Design, launched his solo venture BERTO at Alcova 2026 in Milan, featuring the FACETAS collection of glass pieces joined with copper and tin using the Tiffany technique. Valeria Vasi, born in Moscow and based in Barcelona, presented METAMORPHOSIS, a series of wrought-iron sculptures including a chair, mirror, candelabrum, and incense burner, honoring traditional craftsmanship.
