Five Copenhagen exhibitions showcase diverse contemporary and historical art

A retrospective of influential Danish artist Poul Gernes (1925–96) runs at Louisiana Art Museum through 16 October, highlighting his socially conscious work that decorated over 150 Danish buildings. Chinese painter Liu Xiadong presents a survey of his last decade's work at Faurschou Foundation until 16 December, focusing on global travels and migration themes. Swedish artist Mamma Andersson and Israeli-born, Copenhagen-based Tal R debut their first collaborative exhibition at Bo Bjerggaard through 22 October, with a second part opening at Galleri Magnus Karlsson in Stockholm on 30 August. Danish artist Evren Tekinoktay's first solo show at David Risley Gallery, titled 'Bermuda' and inspired by the Bermuda Triangle, features motorized neon-relief works and textiles until 1 October. Turkish-born, Swedish citizen Meriç Algün Ringborg explores belonging and identity at ARoS Aarhus Art Museum through 11 September with installations including 'Promotion Europe' made from 170 EU souvenirs. These five exhibitions are currently on view in and around Copenhagen.
