Five Art Calls and Competitions to Watch in August

Artribune Jobs has launched a monthly column highlighting five active open calls and competitions in the art world. The first call, from DOC Live agency, invites emerging artists to submit works on plastic recycling for the PLASTICAd'A-MARE eco festival at the Porto Turistico di Roma (September 5–8, 2019). The winner receives a €1,000 scholarship; deadline August 19. The second, Generazione Cultura (4th edition), by Lottomatica and LUISS Business School, offers 50 graduates under 27 training in cultural management and paid internships at institutions like Collezione Peggy Guggenheim, Gallerie degli Uffizi, and Scuderie del Quirinale; deadline September 30. The third, Q-Rated Napoli 2019 workshop by Quadriennale di Roma, selects artists and curators aged 23–35 for a three-day workshop at Madre museum (November 27–29) with international tutors including Krist Gruijthuijsen (KunstWerke Berlin), Lucy McKenzie, and Fredi Fischli & Niels Olsen; deadline September 23. The fourth, Bando Arepo/Alchimie Coreografiche for choreographers over 35, by Fondazione Egri per la Danza, seeks new works on the theme "Body and Soul" for the 2021/22 biennium; deadline August 31. The fifth, Premio Internazionale Generazione Contemporanea (4th edition), by LUISS Business School's Master of Art Curatorial Collective, supports artists under 35 and expands LUISS's contemporary art collection; deadline September 30.
