First Margaret Preston retrospective in over 20 years at NGV this September
On 4 September, the Ian Potter Centre: NGV Australia will unveil the first comprehensive retrospective of Australian modernist Margaret Preston in over 20 years. This exhibition showcases more than 200 pieces, encompassing paintings, prints, sculptures, and archival items. It places Preston's work in relation to both her contemporaries and modern First Nation artists. Significant loans from the National Gallery enhance the NGV Collection, featuring notable works such as Flannel flowers 1938 and Shoalhaven Gorge, New South Wales 1940–41.
