First Kyiv International Biennale ARSENALE 2012 Showcased Global and Ukrainian Art During Euro 2012

The first Kyiv International Biennale of Contemporary Art, ARSENALE 2012, took place from May 24 to July 31, 2012, at Mystetskyi Arsenal in Kyiv, coinciding with Euro 2012. Nataliia Zabolotna was responsible for commissioning the event, which featured both international and Ukrainian artists. The Main Project, curated by David Elliott, was titled 'The Best of Times, The Worst of Times,' showcasing pieces such as Nikita Kadan's 'Procedure Room' and Vandy Rattana's 'Bomb Ponds.' Oleksandr Soloviov oversaw the Special Project 'Double Game,' organized by Fabio Cavalucci. The Historical Project 'Ancient Forms' exhibited ancient stone babas, while a Parallel Program included various satellite projects. Kostiantyn Strilets captured the event through photography, which was published by Larissa Babij. Strilets has also exhibited in Kyiv and contributed to znaki.fm.
