First Jacopo Bassano Retrospective Outside Italy Since 1993 Opens in Helsinki

In Helsinki, the Sinebrychoff Art Museum is presenting the first monographic exhibition focused on Jacopo Bassano outside of Italy since 1993, titled "Jacopo Bassano – The Master of the Venetian Renaissance," which will be on display until January 12, 2025. Curated by Kirsi Eskelinen and Claudia Caramanna, the exhibition showcases 34 paintings from renowned institutions, including the Louvre and Gallerie dell'Accademia. Among the featured pieces are "The Virgin and Child with Saint John the Baptist and Saint Anthony Abbot" and "Saint John the Baptist Gathering Flowers for His Parents." Bassano, who lived from 1510 to 1592, transformed his family's workshop in 1539. Previous monographic exhibitions took place in 1992 and 2010, with Eskelinen noting the scarcity of such extensive displays of 16th-century art.
