First Italian Animation Festival for Kids Goes Online

festival-fair · 2026-04-27

Catch the Moon, Italy's first festival dedicated to animation cinema for children, takes place entirely online with free 24/7 streaming. The program includes 35 films in competition (12 Italian premieres, 5 world premieres), two thematic non-competition programs (Animals and Christmas Adventures), and a focus on the Estonian Academy of Arts featuring nine shorts from its archive, where students learn under master animator Priit Pärn. Three free animation workshops by Beatrice Pucci, Michele Bernardi, and BePart cover claymation, cutout animation, and augmented reality for ages 6–11 and 18–25. Two online exhibitions are also presented: Carta dei diritti dei bambini curated by La Baracca – Testoni Ragazzi, and MAUA – Museo di arte urbana aumentata curated by BePart, displaying 30 digital works. The awards ceremony on December 20 will announce four winners of this first edition.
