First-Ever Monograph on Designer Bea Feitler Proposed by Serge Ricco

publication · 2026-05-19

Veteran art and creative director Serge Ricco has proposed the first-ever monograph on Brazilian designer and art director Bea Feitler, titled 'The Wonder Woman of Art.' Feitler, who died in 1982 at age 44, created iconic covers and layouts for Harper’s Bazaar, Ms. Magazine, Rolling Stone, and Vanity Fair. She collaborated with Richard Avedon, Jacques-Henri Lartigue, Marvin Israel, Andy Warhol, Ruth Ansel, and Annie Leibovitz. As co-art director with Ruth Ansel at Harper’s Bazaar, she expanded on the legacy of Alexey Brodovitch, Henry Wolf, and Marvin Israel. She later became the founding art director of Ms. Magazine and designed the dummy issue for Vanity Fair’s 1982 relaunch. Ricco’s proposal includes a PDF of an article from the Portuguese quarterly Electra. The English-language monograph would be co-authored by Ricco and Feitler’s nephew, Bruno Feitler, who previously published 'ODesign De Bea Feitler' in Portuguese. The author hopes the book will lead to an exhibition in the US and UK.
