First edition of IN/SU/LA biennial festival debuts on Ventotene
The inaugural IN/SU/LA, a biennial festival dedicated to contemporary art, took place on Ventotene, under the direction of Yvonne Andreini and Alessio Campagna. Drawing inspiration from the Berlin-based Sichung Insel initiative, the event showcased the works of six artists and one writer: Ilaria Biotti, Alessio Castagna, Caroline Corleone, Manifesto: Pietro Babina, Flavio de Marco, Konstanty Szydlowski, and Alexandra Wolframm. This festival sought to delve into artistic interactions within a historically significant site, known for its role as a place of exile during fascism. Notable site-specific projects included "Manifesto" by Flavio de Marco and Pietro Babina, Biotti's siren exploration, Andreini's installation, Castagna's collage, Corleone's reinterpretation of the Ventotene Manifesto, and Wolframm's migration-themed shelter.
