Fiorella Minervino, Italian art critic and journalist, dies at 82

Fiorella Minervino, a prominent Italian art historian, critic, and journalist, died at age 82 after a long illness. Her funeral will be held on Thursday, March 27 at 11 a.m. in the Church of Carmine in Milan. Born in Milan in 1943, she earned a doctorate from Bocconi University in the early 1970s and taught modern and contemporary art history at the University of Parma for fifteen years. She curated exhibitions in Italy and China and served on the Scientific Committee of the Museo Poldi Pezzoli in Milan. Minervino wrote for La Repubblica (including its cultural supplement Robinson and Repubblica Design), La Stampa, and Corriere della Sera, where she was Culture Editor for twenty years (1978–1998). She also contributed to international publications such as Le Monde. Her last article, published in December 2024 in Robinson, covered Jean Tinguely's centenary exhibition at Hangar Bicocca in Milan. She authored numerous books, including monographs on Ingres, Degas, Gauguin, Seurat, Pointillism, Impressionism, and Cubist Picasso. In 2018, she co-curated an Impressionism exhibition with Vincenzo Sanfo at the Palazzo della Cultura in Catania. Her research spanned collecting, customs, antiques, design, architecture, and fashion. Stefano Boeri, president of Triennale Milano, paid tribute to her as a passionate journalist and sensitive friend.
